The 3rd volume of Alien Planet Trips is a collaboration with guitar player, Martin Weaver (Wicked Lady, Dark). We met a year ago and found we had a in common musically and should work together. These tracks were conceived during the summer of 2018, when it was too hot to do anything outside. It had been many years since I used my Nord Lead 2 so it was time to take it out and see what sounds it could produce. Many of the tracks the main synth lines were created on the Nord Lead and then additional layers were added and Martin then laid down some guitars. Hope you enjoy this 3rd Trip. It is very different from Vol 1 and 2.

Synthesizers used on this album were: Nord Lead 2 virtual analog synthesizer, Korg Monotron, Custom Modular Synthesizer, OSCar. Programmed drums were made in Logic.

Acoustic guitar, electric guitars and drum programming in Native Instruments on Lost in the Desert by Martin Weaver. 

Recorded and mixed in Portugal, 2018.

This album is dedicated to my loving, patient, and understanding wife, Sue.

This is kind of a monolithic album imho, yet somehow it's OSJC's most approachable album (that I've heard so far, I guess). I say that as a person who initially balked at the runtimes - I'm a "brevity is the soul of wit" kinda guy. That said, these jams are absolutely first-class. You do not feel the length at all, they're more like soundtracks to an inner movie. Soft Velvet Underbelly makes me wish I still played Elite: Dangerous, so I could commit space piracy to it. Has a great coda, too. Smekermann
